Cool Shit That Might Actually Be Useful

Google is available from your cell phone at www.google.com/xhtml if you are lucky enough to have one of the new cool ones. If you still have one of the old crappy ones you'll have to stick with www.google.com/wml. The xhtml version has image search enabled and automatically shrinks the results to fit your screen. Cool shit. Local search works well, with the same results you'd get if you used a computer. Maps come up, but they are kinda hard to read, hopefully they will improve upon that. What is also pretty cool is the ability to use Gmail from your cell. Right now you can but it's not official, and it's not made by google. If you are interested try it at your own risk: www.gmailwireless.com. I'm pretty sure it's legit, but I couldn't get it to work right now. And don't worry, I changed my password just in case.

Monsoon Season?

So shit, what have I been up to lately? I've been rock climbing about three times a week for the past month. I got a membership and some equipment, the whole 9. Even though it has taken over my thoughts for the past few weeks I still try to fit in the other activities I enjoy like bowling, Frisbee, and lifting. I've also recently gotten reading, books. I don't know why reading on the internet isn't really considered "reading" when its pretty much the same. Since we don't have a TV in the apartment and it doesn't seem like getting one is on the horizon, I have extra time at home to just sit around and read. Especially cause being in front of a computer all the time at home seems crazy when I spend all day at work in front of one. I've been reading about 2 books a week, non-fiction of course. I'm just not interested in reading about made up stories when I can actually learn something useful and expand my working knowledge. Amazon.com has become my friend. It's truly a great site to buy shit at. The prices they have on books and some electronics is really quite impressive, and it all comes with a great return policy and a real company behind it. Something most other inexpensive sellers on the internet don't offer.

Getting to the title of the post... It's been raining like crazy here after not raining at all for like 2 months. We are now in the midst of what is called Monsoon season, where the humidity is up around 50-70% and the temps drop to around 105 F. There's about a 30% chance of rain every day which has seemed more like 100% the last few days. Today there was a pretty good storm with heavy rain and strong winds. When the lightning hits close by it really shakes the building, it does not fuck around.
